I’m proud to stand behind Marc Sazer for the International Executive Board. I’ve known Marc for close to 20 years, and like any real union relationship, we’ve had our share of agreements, disagreements, hard conversations, and hard-fought battles. But through all of it, one thing never changed — Marc’s heart has always been with the musicians.
Back in the day, when I moved up through leadership and eventually became president, there were times we didn’t always see things the same way. That’s part of the work. But even then, Marc always came from a place of wanting to protect the union and fight for fairness. After the pandemic, when I came back from my sabbatical and returned to the board, we found ourselves working side by side again — now with Marc as President of Local 47 and me serving as Vice President.
What I’ve seen is a guy who truly loves this union, believes in justice for musicians, and understands the value of solidarity. Marc brings experience, honesty, and grit to the table. He’s the kind of cat who listens, fights hard when needed, and never forgets who we’re supposed to be fighting for.
